JAMMU, MARCH 29: The vibrant spirit of a new Jammu & Kashmir was on full display as the Jammu Marathon brought together athletes, officials, and citizens in a celebration of fitness, unity, and transformation. The event stood as a powerful symbol of the Union Territory’s remarkable journey since 2019, marking its emergence as a hub for peace, progress, and global-standard events.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who graced the occasion, described the marathon as more than just a sporting event. He emphasized that it reflects the changing narrative of Jammu & Kashmir, one defined by stability, opportunity, and a renewed global outlook. He noted that the conducive environment created in recent years has enabled the region to host large-scale national and international events with confidence.

Joining the event was renowned fitness icon and marathon promoter Milind Soman, whose presence added energy and inspiration to the participants. Addressing the runners, he praised the enthusiasm of the youth and the scenic beauty of Jammu, stating that such events not only promote health and fitness but also showcase the region’s potential as a major destination for sports tourism.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also highlighted the significance of the marathon in projecting a positive image of Jammu & Kashmir. He remarked that for decades, the region had faced challenges that limited such large-scale gatherings.
