NEW DELHI, MARCH 28: In a move reflecting the growing enthusiasm for India’s indigenous culture and craftsmanship, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in collaboration with TRIFED, has extended the ongoing Bharat Tribes Fest 2026 till April 5.
The extension comes after the festival witnessed an overwhelming response from visitors, buyers, and stakeholders, turning it into a thriving marketplace for tribal artisans, entrepreneurs, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across the country.
A Celebration of Tribal India
Hosted at Sunder Nursery, the festival has evolved into a vibrant platform that brings together the diverse cultural expressions of tribal India. From intricate handicrafts and handlooms to authentic tribal cuisine and live performances, the event offers a holistic experience of indigenous traditions.
With participation from over 1,000 tribal artisans, the fest has drawn representation from multiple states, showcasing the depth and diversity of India’s tribal heritage.
Expanding Market Opportunities
The decision to extend the festival is aimed at providing artisans with additional time to engage directly with consumers. This direct interaction not only improves price realisation for producers but also helps build lasting market connections.
Participants from Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) and grassroots enterprises have been able to display their products to a wider audience, strengthening livelihood opportunities and boosting rural economies.
The festival features:
- 78 VDVKs from 22 states
- Over 300 art and craft exhibitors from 28 states
- 120 tribal food participants across 30 stalls representing 21 states
Beyond Exhibition: Building an Ecosystem
Beyond retail and display, the event has also become a hub for knowledge-sharing and collaboration. Key engagements such as business conclaves, CSR discussions, and thematic workshops are enabling participants to explore partnerships, enhance skills, and scale their enterprises.
These interactions are gradually shaping a stronger ecosystem for tribal entrepreneurship, aligning with the government’s broader vision of inclusive growth.
Van Dhan Conclave to Spotlight Entrepreneurship
As part of the extended programme, a major highlight will be the Van Dhan Conclave scheduled for March 29. The conclave will be inaugurated by Durgadas Uikey and will focus on strengthening tribal entrepreneurship.
The sessions will explore key themes such as:
- Sustainable livelihood models
- Value addition of Minor Forest Produce (MFP)
- Improved market linkages
- Scaling tribal enterprises
The conclave is expected to bring together policymakers, experts, and grassroots entrepreneurs for meaningful dialogue and actionable insights.
Strengthening Tribal Livelihoods
The extended duration of the festival underscores the government’s continued commitment to empowering tribal communities. By providing platforms like Bharat Tribes Fest, initiatives are being strengthened to preserve traditional knowledge systems while integrating them into modern market frameworks.
The festival not only celebrates culture but also reinforces economic independence by connecting artisans directly with buyers, reducing dependency on intermediaries.
An Invitation to Experience India’s Roots
With its extended schedule, Bharat Tribes Fest 2026 offers visitors more time to explore, engage, and support tribal communities. From unique handcrafted products to traditional culinary experiences, the event stands as a testament to India’s rich and diverse heritage.
As the festival continues, it serves as a reminder that empowering tribal artisans is not just about preserving tradition—it is about building sustainable futures.
