A Strategic Gateway for North India
The newly inaugurated airport is set to serve a vast region across western Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, including Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Meerut, and parts of Haryana. With improved connectivity, the project is expected to unlock new opportunities for farmers, small businesses, and the youth.
“Flights from here will connect this region to the world,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing that the airport will become a symbol of a rapidly advancing Uttar Pradesh.
Infrastructure Driving Growth
Highlighting the broader development push in the region, PM Modi pointed out that the airport is part of a larger ecosystem of infrastructure projects transforming western Uttar Pradesh. From high-speed rail corridors to metro expansions and the upcoming semiconductor hub in Noida, the region is emerging as a major economic engine.
He noted that seamless multi-modal connectivity—linking road, rail, and air—will significantly boost logistics efficiency and attract global investors.
Farmers and Industry to Benefit
The Prime Minister acknowledged the contribution of local farmers who parted with their land for the project, stating that the new airport will open global markets for agricultural produce. Improved connectivity is expected to strengthen food processing industries and enhance export potential.
He also highlighted the role of ethanol production in reducing India’s dependence on crude oil imports, crediting sugarcane farmers for contributing to energy security and saving foreign exchange.
Aviation Sector on the Rise
India’s aviation sector is witnessing rapid expansion, with over 160 airports now operational across the country. The Prime Minister reiterated that initiatives like the UDAN scheme have made air travel more accessible, enabling millions of citizens to fly at affordable rates.
He announced that further expansion is underway, with plans to develop 100 new airports and 200 helipads in smaller cities, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive connectivity.
Boost to Jobs and Skills
The growth of aviation infrastructure is also opening up significant employment opportunities. From pilots and cabin crew to maintenance professionals, the sector is creating a wide range of career paths for young Indians.
Addressing a key gap, PM Modi highlighted the need to strengthen India’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities. He announced the foundation of a new MRO facility at Jewar, aimed at reducing dependence on foreign services and generating domestic employment.
Amid Global Uncertainty
