AUG 16: Minister Javed Rana visited Jogger Park, located near the picturesque Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge in Poonch, as part of his initiative to enhance public infrastructure and promote healthy lifestyles among residents. During the visit, he assessed the current facilities and interacted with local visitors who frequent the park for daily exercise and recreation.
Recognizing the park’s potential to serve as a key urban recreational space, the Minister issued directives to the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) aimed at upgrading the existing infrastructure. This includes laying a synthetic jogging track and extending the park up to the Police Lines, ensuring a safe and modern jogging environment for the public.
The Minister emphasized that the project should focus on maintaining the park’s natural charm while integrating modern amenities. With the riverfront views adding to the aesthetic appeal, the upgraded park is expected to become a popular spot not only for fitness enthusiasts but also for families and tourists.
“This development is part of our broader vision to make Poonch a model town with modern civic amenities. The new synthetic track and extended jogging route will provide residents with a state-of-the-art recreational space while promoting wellness and outdoor activity,” Rana stated.
Officials from the I&FC have been asked to expedite the DPR preparation so that work can begin without delay. Once completed, the project will not only improve urban livability but also boost the town’s eco-tourism potential.
