AUG 16: The spirit of patriotism soared high as Baramulla celebrated Independence Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and national pride. The official function was marked by the hoisting of the Tricolour by Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, followed by a ceremonial salute and the singing of the national anthem.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Dar highlighted the progress made in the region over the past year. He emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusive development and people-centric governance, underscoring achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. “We are building a future rooted in unity and progress,” he stated, drawing applause from the crowd.

One of the major highlights of the celebration was the ‘Know Your Army’ exhibition, organized by the Indian Army. The event featured interactive stalls showcasing modern military equipment, weapons, and informative displays about the Army’s role in national security. It drew immense public interest, especially from students and young citizens, who engaged eagerly with soldiers and officers to learn more about the armed forces.

Cultural performances by local schoolchildren, including patriotic songs and traditional Kashmiri dances, added colour and emotion to the event. The entire atmosphere was filled with a sense of unity, pride, and national spirit, reflecting the deep-rooted patriotism of the people of Baramulla.

Security arrangements were tight, and the celebrations went off smoothly, demonstrating the collective will of the administration, security forces, and civilians to uphold peace and harmony in the region.

As the Tricolour fluttered proudly against the sky, Baramulla stood united in honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reaffirming its commitment to the values of democracy and progress.
