Jammu, October 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has modified the composition of a committee constituted to inquire into the death of a patient, replacing two members of the panel through an order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department.

According to reports, the changes were made through Government Order No. 746-JK(HME) of 2026, dated October 6, as a partial modification of an earlier order issued on April 7, 2026, which had constituted the inquiry committee. <Cite refs={[“turn880669news1″,”turn880669search4”]}/>

Under the revised arrangement, Dr Narinder Bhatyal, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, has been appointed in place of Dr Harbaksh Singh, the then Chief Medical Officer, Jammu.

Similarly, Dr (Prof.) Rajesh Mahajan, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, has been inducted into the committee in place of Dr Anita Vig, who has retired from service.

Two Members Replaced in Inquiry Panel

The modification updates the committee’s membership to account for the changes in the officers concerned. The remaining provisions of the earlier government order will continue to remain in force.

The committee was originally constituted to examine the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death. Its inquiry is intended to facilitate an examination of the case in accordance with the terms laid down in the original government order.

The latest order changes the personnel serving on the panel but does not indicate that the committee’s original mandate has been altered.

Earlier Government Order Remains in Force

The Health and Medical Education Department has clarified through the order that all other provisions of Government Order No. 273-JK(HME) of 2026, dated April 7, will remain unchanged.

The revised composition is expected to enable the committee to continue its assigned work under the existing terms of reference.

The development is part of the government’s administrative process for maintaining the functioning of inquiry panels tasked with examining matters concerning public healthcare.

Further details about the findings of the inquiry, if and when officially released, will clarify the circumstances examined by the committee.
