Jammu, September 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Jammu, organised a Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 Boot Camp at Government SPMR College, Jammu, with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation and startup thinking among students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The programme provided participants with an opportunity to understand the startup ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir while gaining practical insights into developing and presenting business ideas.

Participants Gain Insights into J&K Startup Policy

During the boot camp, participants were familiarised with the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27, helping them understand the policy framework and opportunities available to emerging entrepreneurs in the Union Territory.

The sessions also focused on important stages of building a startup, including idea development, validation and pitching.

Participants were guided on how to refine an initial concept, assess its potential and present the idea in a structured manner.

17 Startup Ideas Presented

A key component of the programme was the Idea Pitching Session, where 17 participants presented their startup concepts before the evaluators.

The session gave aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to articulate their ideas and demonstrate their understanding of the problem they intended to address and the potential solutions offered by their proposed ventures.

Following the presentations, 10 promising startup ideas were shortlisted for the next level of the Startup Idea Challenge 2.0.

The shortlisting marks the next stage for the selected participants as they continue developing and strengthening their entrepreneurial proposals.

Focus on Building an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

The boot camp reflects the growing emphasis on promoting entrepreneurship among young people in Jammu and Kashmir.

By providing students and aspiring entrepreneurs with exposure to startup policies, idea validation and pitching, programmes such as the Startup Idea Challenge can help participants move from the initial stage of an idea towards developing viable business concepts.

The initiative also provides a platform for young innovators to receive guidance and showcase their ideas in a competitive environment.

With 10 ideas moving forward from the Jammu boot camp, the Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 is expected to provide further opportunities for participants to refine their concepts and explore the possibilities of turning innovative ideas into entrepreneurial ventures.
