Dec 12 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday asserted that peace in Jammu & Kashmir has been “established, not bought,” declaring that the era of misgovernance in the Union Territory is now over. He made these remarks while presiding over a significant ceremony in Jammu where appointment letters were handed over to families affected by terrorism.
During the programme, the Lieutenant Governor distributed appointment letters to 41 next of kin (NoKs) of terrorism victims from the Jammu division. He also handed over letters to beneficiaries under age-relaxation cases, along with 19 wards of J&K Police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to justice and transparency, LG Sinha said that Jammu & Kashmir today is moving forward under an administration guided by fairness, accountability, and public welfare. “Those who once enjoyed patronage from the terror ecosystem are now facing the law, not securing government jobs,” he said.
The LG emphasised that the terror ecosystem operating from the shadows is collapsing, and stringent action will be taken against any individual or group attempting to spread misinformation or negative narratives against India. He noted that the administration remains committed to protecting youth from being misled and ensuring opportunities for growth and employment.
Sinha added that the past years have demonstrated a clear transformation in governance, security, and development. “The days of misgovernance are over. Peace has been built through hard work, strong governance and unwavering resolve,” he stated.
He credited this change to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, highlighting their continued support in strengthening security and eliminating separatist influence from government systems. The LG urged citizens, community leaders and stakeholders to contribute to the ‘Mahayagya of development’ and help sustain the positive trajectory of the Union Territory.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several senior officials and dignitaries, including:
-
Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Police (J&K)
-
Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary (Home)
-
M. Raju, Commissioner Secretary, GAD
-
Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu
-
Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu
-
Deputy Commissioners of various districts
-
Members of the Legislative Assembly
-
Family members of terror victims
Officials highlighted that the appointment letters reflect the government’s commitment to rehabilitating families who have suffered due to terrorism, while also empowering the next generation with dignified opportunities.
With an emphasis on transparency, fairness and long-term peacebuilding, the event underscored the administration’s focus on strengthening public trust while continuing to dismantle the remnants of terrorist influence.
LG Sinha concluded with a message of unity and progress, saying that Jammu & Kashmir is entering a phase defined by development, peace and stability. “Every citizen has a role to play. Together, we will build a prosperous and peaceful future for J&K,” he said.
