SEP 16: The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has stepped up its cleanliness and green initiatives across the country as part of the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0 and Swachhata Hi Seva, aimed at strengthening the vision of Swachh Bharat.
Between December 2024 and August 2025, MHI organized 556 cleanliness campaigns nationwide. These efforts resulted in the weeding out of 2,823 files, freeing up 2.24 lakh sq. ft. of office space, and generating approximately ₹52.30 crore in revenue through scrap disposal. The campaign not only improved workplace efficiency but also promoted space optimization and a healthier working atmosphere.
During Special Campaign 4.0 (October 2–31, 2024), the Ministry, along with its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Autonomous Bodies (ABs), secured 5th position in revenue generation (₹6.95 crore) and 2nd position in office space freed (31.64 lakh sq. ft.), much of which was repurposed for modern office areas, libraries, and leisure rooms.
Building on this momentum, MHI is now finalizing locations for the main phase of Special Campaign 5.0, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025, with a sharper focus on efficiency, waste reduction, and workplace transformation.
The Ministry also observed Swachhata Pakhwada from August 16–30, 2025, organizing awareness drives on hygiene, sustainable living, and green practices. Additionally, MHI is actively participating in the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign (September 17–October 2, 2025), which emphasizes large-scale advocacy, citizen participation, mega cleanliness drives, and recognition of sanitation workers.
Through these initiatives, MHI continues to reaffirm its commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more efficient India, fully aligned with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan vision.
