AUG 26: Minister Javid Ahmad Dar today chaired the 67th Board of Directors (BoDs) meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC). The meeting reviewed the corporation’s ongoing projects, financial performance, and new initiatives aimed at strengthening the horticulture sector.
The Minister emphasized the need to optimize existing assets and foster innovation in processing, packaging, and marketing to make J&K’s horticultural produce more competitive in national and global markets. He highlighted that JKHPMC must focus on building modern infrastructure, strengthening supply chains, and adopting new technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Urging the corporation to expand its vision, the Minister stressed on tapping international opportunities for premium horticulture products from Jammu & Kashmir. He added that value addition, branding, and strong market linkages will not only boost farmer incomes but also elevate the Union Territory’s position as a hub of high-quality horticultural produce.
The Board also discussed steps for improving financial sustainability, promoting exports, and creating job opportunities for youth through sectoral growth.
Concluding the meeting, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and ensuring that horticulture becomes a key driver of Jammu & Kashmir’s economic development.
