DEC 7: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, visited Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hawal Pulwama and delivered the keynote address during the school’s Annual Day celebrations. The event showcased the achievements, talent, and creative spirit of the students while highlighting the government’s commitment to building a strong, inclusive, and future-ready education system.

In her address, the Minister praised the school for its academic progress, extracurricular accomplishments, and growing participation in science, culture, and sports. She commended the role of teachers and parents in shaping confident, capable and socially aware young citizens.

Reaffirming Omar Abdullah Government’s Commitment to Education

Sakeena Itoo highlighted that the Omar Abdullah–led Government remains deeply committed to strengthening educational infrastructure across Jammu & Kashmir. She noted that the administration has been focusing on upgrading classrooms, laboratories, libraries, digital learning tools, and recreational spaces to ensure that students receive holistic and high-quality learning facilities.

She said that access to education must go beyond academics, underlining the government’s emphasis on character building, creativity, sportsmanship, and innovation. The Minister added that providing students with a nurturing environment is essential for preparing them for competitive careers and future leadership roles.

Encouraging Innovation and Student-Led Achievements

During the event, students presented a range of innovative projects, cultural performances, and science models that reflected their creativity and problem-solving abilities. From environmental awareness themes to technology-based prototypes, the exhibits highlighted the school’s growing focus on experiential learning.

Addressing the students, Sakeena Itoo assured them that the government will provide every possible support to help them achieve their educational aspirations.
