December 14: In a major boost to sports and infrastructure development in border areas, Minister Satish Sharma today inaugurated a ₹3 crore Indoor Stadium with modern multi-sports facilities at Khour.
The newly inaugurated indoor stadium is aimed at providing quality sports infrastructure to local youth, particularly in border and rural areas. Equipped to host multiple indoor sports disciplines, the facility is expected to encourage young talent, promote physical fitness, and create opportunities for athletes to train at a professional level.
Focus on Sports and Youth Empowerment
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that strengthening sports infrastructure in border regions is a key priority of the government. He emphasised that access to modern facilities will help channel the energy of youth in a positive direction and nurture future sportspersons from Jammu and Kashmir.
Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Works Inaugurated
During the visit, Satish Sharma also inaugurated a 5 KW hybrid solar power plant at Thakur Dwara Mandir, underlining the government’s commitment to promoting renewable and sustainable energy solutions, especially in public and religious institutions.
Additionally, the Minister inaugurated blacktopping works at Salinwali, improving road connectivity and ensuring smoother and safer transportation for local residents.
Holistic Development of Border Areas
The Minister reiterated that the government is focusing on holistic development of border and remote areas by simultaneously strengthening sports facilities, clean energy infrastructure, and road connectivity. He stated that such integrated development initiatives are crucial for improving quality of life and generating new opportunities for residents.
Local representatives and residents welcomed the projects, terming them a significant step towards inclusive development and better public amenities.
