AUG 18: The Udyam Sakhi Portal has emerged as a vital platform to empower women entrepreneurs b. Designed and managed under the administrative control of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), the portal serves as a one-stop resource centre to promote self-reliance among aspiring and existing women business y helping them start, build and expand their businesses with adequate guidance and resourcesowners.
Providing a wide range of information on financial schemes, policies and programmes, the portal acts as a comprehensive guide for women to access government-backed opportunities. It covers financial schemes such as Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Trust Fund for Micro & Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), MUDRA and TReDS. The information available on the portal also includes details of different schemes and programmes run by the Ministry of MSME and other central government ministries.
One of the key features of the Udyam Sakhi portal is that it assists users in formulating effective business plans and guides them towards nodal offices and supporting institutions of the Ministry of MSME in different states. Additionally, the portal highlights upcoming exhibitions, trade fairs and international events organised by the Ministry, making it easier for women entrepreneurs to explore new markets and networking opportunities.
So far, a total of 4,535 women have registered themselves on the Udyam Sakhi portal. The development of the portal was undertaken in 2018 with an expenditure of Rs. 43.52 lakh.
This information was shared by Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. The Minister emphasised that the portal aims to create a robust ecosystem where women-led enterprises can grow sustainably while contributing to the economic development of the country.
