SEP 03: In response to the recent heavy rainfall, the local administration in Ramnagar Town carried out a large-scale cleanliness and sanitation drive aimed at restoring normal drainage and preventing further waterlogging in residential and commercial areas.
The operation focused on clearing blocked drains, removing accumulated waste, and ensuring smooth water flow through the town’s drainage system. Sanitation workers were deployed across key locations, including low-lying areas that were most affected by the downpour.
Under the supervision of municipal officials, the drive involved the use of heavy machinery and manual labor to remove silt, plastic waste, and debris that had clogged drainage channels. Special attention was given to areas near marketplaces, schools, and hospitals to avoid any public inconvenience or health hazards.
Residents of Ramnagar welcomed the move, expressing relief as stagnant water levels began to recede. Local authorities have also appealed to the public to avoid dumping waste in drains and cooperate in maintaining cleanliness, especially during the monsoon season.
Officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu and Kashmir, noted that such proactive measures are part of ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The administration has assured that regular monitoring and follow-up drives will continue to ensure sustained cleanliness and timely redressal of sanitation-related issues.
The drive highlights the importance of community participation and coordinated efforts between local bodies and citizens in dealing with environmental challenges effectively.
