Return Journey Begins for J&K Hajj Pilgrims as First Batch Lands at Srinagar Airport

CM Omar Abdullah

JUNE 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah welcomed the first group of Hajj pilgrims returning to Jammu and Kashmir at the Srinagar International Airport, marking the official commencement of the return phase for this year’s Hajj journey. The event was a moment of both celebration and reflection, as families reunited and the Chief Minister extended a warm greeting to the pilgrims who had undertaken the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj-e-Baitullah.

Omar Abdullah personally interacted with the pilgrims, expressing his congratulations on their safe return and the successful completion of the religious rites of Hajj. He took the time to listen to their experiences and feedback regarding the facilities and services provided during the pilgrimage, both in the holy cities and throughout the journey.

The pilgrims expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister and the J&K administration for the comprehensive arrangements made for their comfort, safety, and convenience. Many praised the coordination between various departments that ensured a smooth experience from departure to return.

The Chief Minister also commended the pilgrims for their discipline, patience, and spiritual commitment throughout the journey. He acknowledged the significance of Hajj as a profound spiritual experience and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting the religious aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The first returning group consisted of 178 pilgrims, part of the larger contingent of 3,606 pilgrims from the Union Territory who performed Hajj this year. The return process will continue in phases over the coming days as more flights bring back pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.

To ensure a hassle-free return, the J&K government has put in place a range of measures, including transport and logistical arrangements at the airport. Special teams have been deployed to assist with baggage, transportation, and onward travel to various districts across the UT.

Officials from the Hajj Committee, civil administration, and other concerned departments are actively coordinating to ensure a seamless experience for all returning pilgrims. The return phase is being closely monitored to address any potential issues and to maintain high standards of care and hospitality.

The event underscores the government’s commitment to providing dignified and respectful services for those undertaking religious journeys.
