10 May: In a major boost to rural healthcare services, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has donated a fully equipped hi-tech ambulance to Community Health Centre Bhalla under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The ambulance was formally handed over by Manjeet Razdan in the presence of local representatives, healthcare officials, and senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Officials stated that the advanced ambulance will significantly improve emergency healthcare response and referral services across Bhalla tehsil. The facility is expected to benefit residents of nearly 17 panchayats, especially those living in remote and hilly regions where access to timely medical transportation remains a challenge.

Healthcare authorities noted that the ambulance is equipped with modern emergency medical facilities designed to support patients during critical situations and long-distance transfers to higher medical centres.

The initiative is part of SAIL’s broader CSR efforts aimed at supporting public welfare, healthcare infrastructure, and community development in underserved areas. Officials emphasized that improved emergency transportation can play a crucial role in saving lives, particularly in geographically difficult regions.

Speaking during the event, representatives appreciated the contribution made by SAIL, stating that the ambulance would strengthen healthcare accessibility and reduce delays in emergency medical care.

Residents and local leaders welcomed the initiative, saying that improved ambulance services are essential for rural populations where medical facilities are often located far from villages.

Authorities also highlighted the importance of public sector organisations contributing to healthcare and social development through CSR programmes. Such initiatives, they said, complement government efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in rural Jammu and Kashmir.

The newly donated ambulance is expected to begin operations immediately, providing faster and more efficient emergency medical support to patients in the region.
