The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has announced the organisation of the Agriculture Summit & Kisan Mela 2026, scheduled to be held from February 11 to 13, 2026, at its Chatha campus.
The three-day event will be organised under the theme “AI-enabled Advanced Agriculture”, aiming to bring together farmers, agricultural scientists, agri-startups, policymakers and industry stakeholders on a common platform. The summit seeks to promote the adoption of modern technologies and innovative practices to strengthen the agricultural sector.
According to the organisers, the Agriculture Summit & Kisan Mela will focus on showcasing how artificial intelligence, digital tools and smart farming solutions can enhance productivity, improve decision-making and ensure sustainability in agriculture. Live demonstrations, exhibitions and interactive sessions will be key highlights of the event.
Farmers attending the Kisan Mela will get an opportunity to directly interact with experts, learn about the latest research outcomes, improved crop varieties, precision farming techniques and climate-resilient agricultural practices. The presence of agri-startups and technology providers will further help farmers explore market-linked solutions and advanced tools suited to local conditions.
The summit will also include technical sessions, panel discussions and policy dialogues involving scientists, innovators and government representatives. These discussions will focus on integrating emerging technologies into agriculture, improving farm incomes and strengthening the agri-value chain.
SKUAST-Jammu officials stated that the event aligns with national priorities of technology-driven agriculture, farmer empowerment and sustainable rural development. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in promoting knowledge exchange, encouraging innovation and bridging the gap between research and field-level implementation.
The Agriculture Summit & Kisan Mela 2026 is anticipated to attract a large number of participants from across Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring regions, making it a significant platform for advancing future-ready agriculture.
