NOV 09: The National Urban Conclave 2025 concluded at Yashobhoomi India International Convention Centre, New Delhi, marking a crucial step in advancing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The two-day event, organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), focused on building inclusive, resilient, and well-governed cities through innovation and collaboration.
Hon’ble Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Tokhan Sahu, announced a ₹1,000 crore Hill and Himalayan Cities Focused Fund under the Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0 to strengthen solid waste management in ecologically sensitive regions. He underlined that India’s urban future must empower every citizen — from street vendors to gig workers — as partners in national development.
The conclave featured deliberations on urban governance, circular economy, and affordable housing. It witnessed the launch of the IIRS Sankalan App for GIS-based urban surveys, the Centre for Public Policy on Habitat and Housing at NIUA, and the signing of MoUs with institutions like Osmania University, IIPA, and AIILSG for research and capacity building.
Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA, announced that India will host the BRICS Urban Forum and the Urban Tech Expo in April 2026, showcasing India’s leadership in urban innovation. The Conclave’s actionable outcomes will guide India’s roadmap toward sustainable and inclusive urban growth.
