JULY 25: To mark the 26th anniversary of India’s historic victory in the Kargil War, MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will organize a Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra in Drass, Kargil, on 26th July 2025.
The commemorative walk will be led by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister of State for Defence Shri Sanjay Seth, accompanied by over 1,000 youth volunteers, armed forces personnel, war veterans, martyrs’ families, and members of civil society.
The 1.5-kilometre padyatra will begin at 7:00 a.m. from Himabass Public High School, Drass, and conclude at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet. The event will be a symbolic expression of national pride and public gratitude towards the Indian armed forces who defended the nation during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
Following the padyatra, the Union Ministers along with 100 youth volunteers will visit the Kargil War Memorial to lay wreaths and pay homage to the bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
A highlight of the occasion will be the felicitation of 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udgosh Foundation, who will arrive at the memorial after completing a tribute motorbike rally spanning long distances. Their journey exemplifies courage and commitment to honouring India’s martyrs.
The event will also include a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, merging the spirit of patriotism with environmental awareness and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
In the run-up to the padyatra, MY Bharat has mobilised youth through a series of pre-event activities including essay competitions, painting, elocution contests, and youth dialogues (Yuva Samvads). These initiatives aim to cultivate civic consciousness, highlight stories of valour, and deepen the bond between youth and the armed forces.
The padyatra forms part of the broader Viksit Bharat Padyatras initiative, aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call for Jan Bhagidari in Rashtranirman (nation-building), encouraging every citizen—especially the youth—to play an active role in preserving the legacy of sacrifice, service, and unity.
