MAY 24: The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, under the leadership of Union Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu, organized the curtain raiser event for Wings India 2026—Asia’s largest civil aviation event—at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. Held in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), the event marked the beginning of preparations for the highly anticipated global aviation gathering.
Dignitaries present included Minister of State for Civil Aviation Shri Murlidhar Mohol, Secretary Civil Aviation Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, AAI Chairman Shri Vipin Kumar, DG BCAS Shri Rajesh Nirwan, FICCI Civil Aviation Committee Chairman Mr. Remi Maillard, and FICCI Director General Ms. Jyoti Vij.
The event saw the launch of the Wings India 2026 brochure, a promotional video, and the official Wings India mobile app, designed to facilitate international participation and engagement.
In his keynote address, Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu emphasized India’s rapid ascent in global aviation, noting that India is already the third-largest domestic aviation market and is poised to become the third-largest overall air passenger market. He outlined the government’s roadmap toward Viksit Bharat @2047, focusing on modernization, last-mile connectivity, and adoption of emerging technologies.
The Minister also announced the theme of Wings India 2026: “Indian Aviation: Paving the Future – from Design to Deployment, Manufacturing to Maintenance, Inclusivity to Innovation, and Safety to Sustainability.” He described Wings India 2026 not just as an event, but as a vision statement reflecting India’s ambition to lead in global aviation.
Minister of State Shri Murlidhar Mohol highlighted the active role of state governments in driving aviation growth, especially under the UDAN scheme, which has brought Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities into the national air grid, enhancing tourism and economic development.
Secretary Shri Samir Kumar Sinha emphasized the focus on sustainability and innovation, including India’s potential leadership in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions like drones and eVTOLs.
Wings India 2026 is scheduled to take place from 28th to 31st January 2026 at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, bringing together airlines, manufacturers, investors, cargo and logistics firms, MROs, skill agencies, and financial institutions from across the globe.
