JUNE 13: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda virtually inaugurated the first-ever edition of the Conclave on Best Practices organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at AIIMS Nagpur. This pioneering two-day event brings together various AIIMS institutions from across the country to showcase and exchange innovative practices aimed at improving healthcare delivery, academic excellence, digital transformation, and operational efficiency.

Participating AIIMS institutions included AIIMS Bhopal, Jammu, Bilaspur, Jodhpur, Deoghar, Patna, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Raipur, and Nagpur, alongside officials from the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) and the Ministry of Defence. The event commenced with an opening address by Union Health Secretary Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, who emphasized the importance of collective learning and institutional leadership in driving India’s vision for universal healthcare and medical education excellence.

In his inaugural address, Shri Nadda highlighted the critical role AIIMS institutions play as Institutes of National Importance, integrating high-quality clinical care, cutting-edge medical education, and impactful research. He emphasized that the establishment of AIIMS across various regions serves to reduce healthcare disparities and strengthen public health systems across India.

Calling the Conclave a “pioneering initiative,” Shri Nadda noted that it aims to consolidate the experiences of newer AIIMS institutions across three major domains — teaching-learning and research, hospital services, and governance and patient convenience. He commended AIIMS Nagpur for taking the lead in organizing the first edition of the event.

Shri Nadda further praised AIIMS campuses for adopting Competency Based Medical Education (CBME), incorporating digital learning tools, simulation labs, and mentorship programs to ensure future doctors are well-prepared for emerging healthcare challenges. He also emphasized AIIMS’ growing contributions to India’s scientific landscape through regionally relevant research, ethical clinical trials, and interdisciplinary collaborations aimed at addressing complex public health problems.

On the healthcare delivery front, the Union Health Minister lauded AIIMS institutions for providing affordable, evidence-based treatment, backed by advanced infrastructure and diverse specialties. He also highlighted innovations such as e-governance systems, transparent administration, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, digital registration platforms, and patient-focused services like helpdesks, demonstrating how public healthcare can combine efficiency with compassion.

Senior officials including Smt. Ankita Mishra Bundela, Joint Secretary (PMSSY), Dr. Prashant P Joshi, Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, and representatives from the Ministry of Defence and other AIIMS campuses also participated in the event, making it a significant step towards collaborative learning and institutional excellence.
