The inspection began with visits to key Imam Bargahs at Zadibal and Hassanabad, where she assessed facilities and ensured that all essential services—such as electricity, sanitation, drinking water, and waste disposal—are fully functional. She interacted with community representatives to understand specific requirements for the smooth conduct of Muharram, emphasizing the government’s commitment to preserving religious harmony while addressing local concerns efficiently.
Following her visit to the Imam Bargahs, Kaur inspected the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre at Tengpora, reviewing its operational status and ensuring that public safety and animal welfare are being maintained in urban spaces. She stressed the importance of cleanliness in all public facilities, especially during large gatherings.
Additionally, she visited the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk, which plays a crucial role in facilitating the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims. Here, she reviewed the accommodation, sanitation facilities, medical preparedness, and crowd management systems in place. She directed officials to ensure that all arrangements remain streamlined, with a special focus on hygiene, safety, and uninterrupted services for yatris.
Speaking during the visit, Commissioner Secretary Kaur underlined the need for inter-departmental coordination between civil, health, municipal, and security departments to ensure both religious events are conducted peacefully and efficiently. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to respecting cultural sentiments while upholding civic standards.
Local authorities and representatives from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) accompanied her during the visit and assured full support in implementing all necessary measures.
