JULY 19: Jammu & Kashmir is set to undergo a transformative push to become a 365-day global tourism destination, said Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary during his address at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Regional Committee meeting held in Srinagar.

Emphasizing the region’s vast potential, the Deputy CM highlighted a renewed focus on all-season tourism, backed by robust infrastructure development, cultural promotion, and sustainable practices. With its rich heritage, diverse landscapes, and unique offerings, J&K is poised to emerge as a world-class travel destination catering to tourists year-round.

“We are not just talking about increasing tourist numbers—we are building an ecosystem where Jammu & Kashmir becomes a preferred destination for every season,” said Choudhary. “From snow-clad winters to verdant summers, adventure activities to handicrafts, there’s something for every traveler.”

A key component of this vision is to enhance infrastructure, both in terms of connectivity and hospitality. The Deputy CM stressed the importance of better roads, modern airports, and high-quality accommodation facilities to ensure a seamless experience for domestic and international visitors alike.

Moreover, the government plans to integrate local crafts, culture, and adventure tourism into the broader tourism narrative. This includes promoting Kashmir’s famed handicrafts, local cuisine, and rural tourism initiatives that not only attract visitors but also create livelihood opportunities for locals.

Sustainability remains central to the new tourism strategy. The Deputy CM reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the region while encouraging eco-friendly practices.

The CII meeting saw participation from several industry leaders, tourism stakeholders, and policy makers, all expressing optimism about Jammu & Kashmir’s growth trajectory in the tourism sector.

With focused investments, public-private partnerships, and strong community engagement, Jammu & Kashmir is preparing to position itself not just as a seasonal getaway, but as a resilient, all-weather global destination that celebrates both tradition and innovation.
