JULY 29: Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 in New Delhi to mark the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event brought together education ministers, policymakers, academics, students, and international stakeholders to celebrate the progress of NEP and chart its next phase.
Shri Pradhan unveiled over ₹4,000 crore worth of education projects, including inaugurations, foundation stone-laying ceremonies, and new digital initiatives. He emphasized NEP 2020 as the cornerstone of India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat 2047, underscoring its transformative role in reimagining learning spaces.
Key highlights included the inauguration of multiple Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya campuses, CBSE regional offices, and foundational works under PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA, which focus on educational access for tribal communities. Together, these schemes have sanctioned over 1,100 hostels, benefiting thousands of PVTG students.
Several digital tools were launched, including the TARA App for reading fluency and the My Career Advisor App, offering guidance on 1,000+ career pathways. The Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) system was also introduced to assess schools on sanitation and sustainability.
In higher education, the AI Apprenticeship Program under NATS was announced to skill students for future jobs. IITs and NITs launched new-age curricula promoting interdisciplinary learning and flexible academic pathways.
Globalization of Indian education took a leap with Letters of Intent from four foreign universities—Western Sydney University, Victoria University, La Trobe University, and the University of Bristol—to set up campuses in India, making world-class education accessible locally.
The event featured thematic sessions on Indian languages in learning, secondary education reforms, AI in pedagogy, and research fellowships. A multimedia exhibition highlighted innovative practices like experiential learning and AI-driven teaching tools.
Also inaugurated were the IKS Encyclopaedic Sanskrit Dictionary and the KoshaSHRI portal, preserving India’s linguistic heritage and indigenous knowledge systems.
Shri Pradhan concluded by calling NEP 2020 a “national mission” and urged educators to convert classrooms into spaces of creativity and nation-building.
