SEP 05: The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS)—comprising INS Tir, INS Shardul, and ICGS Sarathi—departed Port Victoria, Seychelles on 4th September 2025, concluding a four-day port visit as part of a Long Range Training Deployment. The visit strengthened maritime cooperation between India and Seychelles, featuring professional exchanges, joint training, and cultural interactions.

Senior Officer of 1TS, Captain Tijo K Joseph, along with commanding officers, called on Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, and Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces (SDF). Discussions reaffirmed the robust defence partnership and continued military collaboration.

A deck reception hosted onboard the 1TS ships welcomed senior SDF officials, Indian diaspora, and diplomats. Maj Gen Rosette acknowledged the Indian Navy’s role in enhancing regional maritime ties and emphasized deeper cooperation.

The visit included community outreach, where essential supplies and health checkups were provided at an elderly home in Point Larue. Joint yoga sessions, a performance by the Indian Naval band, and a friendly football match between IN and SDF personnel showcased camaraderie and cultural engagement.

Indian trainees also visited the Seychelles Coast Guard Base and Maritime Training & Support Centre. SDF personnel received onboard training in firefighting and small arms handling, while professional interactions also took place with the Spanish Navy during the visit of ESPS Navarra.

This deployment highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to regional security and maritime cooperation under the vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions), reinforcing the strategic partnership between India and Seychelles.
