SEP 12: Several legislators, including Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi (MLA Pampore), Javid Ahmad Mirchal (MLA Karnah), and Iftikhar Ahmed (MLA Rajouri), met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Raabita Public Outreach Office today. The meeting focused on pressing developmental challenges and the aftermath of the recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MLAs discussed a range of constituency-specific issues, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure development, enhanced civic amenities, better road connectivity, and improved healthcare services. They voiced concerns about delays in project implementation and urged the government to prioritize remote and flood-affected regions, where people are still struggling to return to normal life.
In particular, the legislators drew attention to the damage caused by the recent floods, including destruction of homes and significant losses in the agriculture sector. They acknowledged the government’s quick response and rehabilitation efforts, expressing appreciation for the timely measures taken to support the affected population.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured the visiting MLAs that their concerns were valid and would be addressed with utmost urgency. He emphasized the government’s commitment to both long-term development and disaster preparedness, stating that fast-tracking projects in vulnerable areas would be a top priority.
He also encouraged the legislators to work collaboratively and remain closely engaged with their communities to ensure inclusive development. “Holistic and sustained development of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir remains our top agenda,” he said.
The meeting reflected the government’s proactive approach to inclusive governance and its responsiveness to the evolving needs of the people, particularly in the face of recurring natural disasters.
