SEP 26: The Ministry of Ayush recently conducted a high-level review meeting to assess the progress and strategic direction of the Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB), a key initiative aimed at enhancing the quality and global reach of Ayurveda education. The meeting was presided over by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, and Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha and senior officials of the Ministry also participated in the deliberations.

During the session, Dr. Vandana Siroha highlighted ATAB’s achievements and ongoing initiatives. Established under the administrative framework of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV) through a Gazette Notification in December 2019, ATAB was created to accredit Ayurveda courses in India and abroad that are not regulated under the existing statutory framework of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act, 2020.

ATAB has successfully accredited 113 Ayurveda courses, including 99 courses from 24 Indian institutions and 14 international courses across two countries, thereby enhancing the credibility and standardization of Ayurveda education globally. In addition, ATAB has introduced a structured endorsement scheme for Ayurveda practitioners working overseas. Under this initiative, 41 overseas professionals have been formally endorsed, ensuring they meet rigorous standards of skill, knowledge, and ethics.

The endorsement and accreditation efforts reinforce public trust, enable professional mobility, and support the integration of Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare systems worldwide. They also foster global collaborations in education, research, and traditional medicine promotion.

The Ministry of Ayush reiterated its commitment to upholding the quality, credibility, and international outreach of Ayurveda through mechanisms like ATAB, aligning with India’s vision to position traditional systems of medicine as a pillar of global wellness and holistic healthcare.
