OCT 15:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed the FICCI National Executive Committee Meeting held in Srinagar, where he highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s vast potential for sustainable economic growth, industrial expansion, and tourism development. The high-profile gathering brought together prominent business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from across the country to explore new avenues of collaboration and investment in the Union Territory.

In his keynote address, CM Abdullah called for enhanced value addition in the agriculture and horticulture sectors, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir’s natural bounty can become a major driver of economic prosperity if supported by innovation and market linkages. He stressed the need for agro-processing, cold storage facilities, and modern packaging units to ensure better income for farmers and strengthen the region’s rural economy.

The Chief Minister also urged the private sector to play a proactive role in the industrial and tourism sectors, assuring investors of the government’s full support and a conducive environment for doing business. He underlined that J&K’s unique geography, skilled workforce, and rich cultural heritage offer immense opportunities for sustainable tourism, adventure activities, and eco-friendly industries.

CM Abdullah reiterated his administration’s commitment to economic reform, transparency, and ease of doing business, aimed at building investor confidence and fostering inclusive growth. He said that the government’s focus is on balancing development with ecological preservation, ensuring that the state’s natural beauty and resources are utilized responsibly.

The FICCI meeting concluded with industry representatives expressing keen interest in sectors such as handicrafts, renewable energy, and high-end tourism.
