25 April: JAMMU: Residents in parts of Jammu have been experiencing power shutdowns, prompting concerns over electricity supply. However, officials have clarified that these outages are largely scheduled and planned as part of routine maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
According to power authorities, most of the shutdowns are being carried out by the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited to facilitate repair works, grid maintenance, and system upgrades. These measures are essential to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply in the long run.
In several instances, power supply has been temporarily suspended due to shutdowns of 33 kV lines and substations, which are necessary for technical improvements and load management.
Officials have also pointed out that scheduled shutdowns are announced in advance, covering specific areas and time slots. These outages are aimed at preventing unexpected faults and reducing the risk of major disruptions in the future.
Additionally, technical issues such as faults in transmission equipment or system overloads can sometimes lead to temporary outages. In such cases, restoration work is carried out on priority to resume supply at the earliest.
Reports indicate that multiple areas across the Jammu region have been affected at different times due to grid maintenance, line repairs, and infrastructure upgrades.
