Kupwara, September 2, 2026: Minister for Agriculture Production Javid Ahmad Dar today inaugurated the newly constructed Block Development Council (BDC) Building at Kralgund in Kupwara, marking another step towards strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions and improving grassroots governance in the area.
Constructed at a cost of ₹97 lakh, the dedicated facility is expected to provide a permanent and better-equipped platform for the functioning of the Block Development Council and facilitate local development activities.
Strengthening Grassroots Democracy
The new BDC building is aimed at supporting the effective functioning of local elected institutions and creating a more accessible space for addressing development-related issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Javid Ahmad Dar highlighted the importance of strong Panchayati Raj institutions in ensuring that governance reaches communities at the grassroots level.
He said the facility would contribute to grassroots democracy, accessible governance and easier redressal of public concerns, enabling local representatives to engage more effectively with residents.
