AUG 29: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 in New Delhi on August 29. Themed “Bridging Tradition and Innovation,” the summit focused on integrating traditional knowledge with modern healthcare solutions among BRICS nations.

Extending festive greetings on the occasion of Ganesh Utsav, the Minister highlighted BRICS’ global importance, representing nearly 50% of the world’s population, one-third of global GDP, and one-fifth of global trade. He urged deeper collaboration among BRICS members to promote inclusive, sustainable healthcare models.

Shri Jadhav emphasized that Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy form the core of a modern, patient-centric healthcare system. He spoke about the Government of India’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop a robust Ayush ecosystem, with over 1,000 Ayush colleges, including 500+ Ayurveda institutions, backed by a strong research and regulatory network.

The Minister noted the increasing international recognition of Ayush systems, citing their presence in Brazil, integration into Russia’s healthcare, and alignment with China’s traditional medicine systems. He called for a harmonized framework across BRICS nations to support trade, innovation, and regulatory alignment in traditional medicine.

He also highlighted opportunities for public–private partnerships, digital health, nutraceutical research, and support for Ayush entrepreneurs and farmers, stressing the importance of ethical and inclusive growth in this rapidly expanding global sector.

Shri Jadhav concluded by noting that India has signed MoUs with 25 countries to foster international cooperation in traditional medicine and urged BRICS members to build upon the summit to create innovative, collaborative healthcare models rooted in both tradition and science.
