24 April: Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu reviewed the preparedness of Indira Gandhi International Airport for transitioning into a hub-and-spoke model, aimed at improving connectivity and operational efficiency.
The review focused on assessing infrastructure readiness, passenger handling capacity, and coordination among airlines to support the proposed model. The hub-and-spoke system is designed to streamline air travel by connecting multiple destinations through a central hub, reducing travel time and improving flight connectivity.
Officials briefed the Minister on ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities at Delhi Airport, including enhancements in terminal capacity, baggage handling systems, and air traffic management. These improvements are expected to support increased passenger traffic and ensure smooth transit operations.
The Minister emphasized the importance of seamless connectivity, reduced layover times, and improved passenger experience. He directed authorities to ensure that all systems are aligned to facilitate efficient transfers and minimize delays.
