AUG 09: The Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, accompanied by his Advisor Nasir Sogami and Member of the Legislative Assembly Tanvir Sadiq,paid obeisance at the revered Ziyarat of Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdhoom (RA), one of the Valley’s most prominent and spiritually significant shrines.
During the visit, the dignitaries offered special prayers, seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and communal harmony across Jammu & Kashmir. The Chief Minister expressed that the spiritual heritage of the region, embodied in shrines such as that of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdhoom (RA), continues to serve as a unifying force for people of all faiths, nurturing values of compassion and brotherhood.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to review the arrangements being made for the upcoming Urs of the saint, which draws thousands of devotees from across the Union Territory and beyond. He directed the concerned departments to ensure smooth conduct of the annual event, with special attention to cleanliness, illumination, traffic management, and facilities for devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of preserving the sanctity of spiritual sites and ensuring that pilgrims experience a safe and comfortable environment during religious gatherings. He urged the civil and police administration to work in coordination so that the Urs is celebrated in a peaceful and well-organized manner.
Local religious leaders and devotees warmly welcomed the Chief Minister and lauded the administration’s efforts in improving facilities at the shrine. Many expressed hope that the annual Urs would be a symbol of unity, attracting pilgrims from different parts of the country and strengthening the region’s cultural and spiritual fabric.
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to upholding J&K’s rich Sufi traditions and promoting the message of peace, tolerance, and inclusivity that Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdhoom (RA) devoted his life to spreading.
