OCT 13:The National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH), Kottayam, an apex institution under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, organized a two-day National Homoeopathy Conference from 10–11 October 2025, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2025. The theme of the conference was “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”
The event brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners from across India to discuss integrative and research-driven approaches to mental health care during disasters and emergencies.
Key dignitaries included Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH (who addressed virtually), Shri Chetan Kumar Meena, IAS, District Collector, Kottayam (Guest of Honour), and Dr. Debadatta Nayak, Assistant Director (H) & Officer-in-Charge, NHRIMH.
Dr. Kaushik emphasized integrating Homoeopathy into psychosocial care frameworks for post-disaster rehabilitation and resilience building. Shri Meena highlighted the role of Homoeopathy in expanding accessible mental health services during crisis situations.
Over two days, the conference featured scientific sessions on disaster mental health, psychiatric crises in natural calamities, resilience in crisis, N-of-1 trials, and Homoeopathic approaches in treating disorders like PTSD, ADHD, Autism, Psychotic Disorders, and Substance Withdrawal.
Postgraduate trainees presented their research on various mental health conditions including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, and depression.
Dr. C. T. Aravind Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, inaugurated the conference and called for holistic, person-centred mental health systems.
The event concluded with a valedictory session, reaffirming the importance of evidence-based and accessible Homoeopathy in mental health care frameworks, particularly during catastrophes and emergencies.
