Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir:

At a press conference held at the Jammu Press Club, the INTUC Seva Dal raised serious concerns over the long-pending issues faced by daily wage workers and the growing water shortage in Jammu.

Addressing the media, Fayaz Akbar Lone, Deputy President of the organisation, said that thousands of daily wage workers who have been serving for 25 to 30 years are still awaiting regularisation of their services.

Referring to assurances made earlier, he stated that despite the Chief Minister’s commitment on the floor of the House to initiate the regularisation process within a month, no concrete action has been taken so far. “Two to three months have passed, but there has been no progress. We urge the government to act without further delay,” he said.

Lone also demanded the immediate release of pending wages, highlighting that workers are struggling to cope with rising inflation and financial stress. He stressed that timely payment and job security are essential for the welfare of daily wage employees and their families.

Apart from labour issues, the organisation also expressed concern over the acute water shortage being faced by residents in several parts of Jammu city. They called for urgent measures to improve water supply and ensure equitable distribution, especially during the summer months.

INTUC Seva Dal appealed to the administration to address both concerns on priority, stating that prolonged delays could lead to increased hardship for workers and the general public.

The press conference concluded with a call for swift government intervention to resolve the issues and provide relief to affected sections of society.
