OCT 25:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the preparedness and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Darbar Move 2025–26, the biannual shifting of government offices between Srinagar and Jammu.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for a smooth, secure, and well-coordinated transition of civil secretariat offices and associated departments to the winter capital. He directed all concerned departments to ensure that the movement of official records, transport of employees, and establishment of office infrastructure are carried out in a time-bound and organized manner.

CM Abdullah underscored that the comfort and welfare of government employees must remain a top priority during the relocation. He instructed officials to ensure adequate transport facilities, accommodation arrangements, and safety measures for all staff members and their families. He also reviewed the deployment of security personnel and coordination between civil and police administrations to guarantee a safe and efficient move.

The Chief Minister called upon administrative secretaries to maintain seamless public service delivery during the transition period and directed departments to avoid any disruption in official work. He stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination, ensuring that all logistical and infrastructural requirements are addressed well in advance.

Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of transport logistics, office readiness, accommodation allotments, and communication networks. CM Abdullah appreciated the efforts made so far but urged departments to expedite pending tasks to ensure that the move takes place without inconvenience to the public or the workforce.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to good governance and administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister said that the Darbar Move tradition reflects the unity and administrative balance between Jammu and Srinagar and must continue with greater professionalism and public convenience.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from the General Administration Department (GAD), Home Department, Transport, and Estates Department, among others.
