APRIL 12: Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Shah today chaired a comprehensive review meeting with officers of Jal Shakti (PHE) Divisions across Jammu province through virtual mode. The meeting aimed to assess the ongoing progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with a special focus on pipeline mapping and completion of near-finished water supply schemes.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Department Jammu, along with Superintending Engineers of respective circles and Executive Engineers from both Civil and Mechanical divisions. Discussions revolved around multiple key components of the mission, including project execution timelines, expenditure reconciliation, and data management.
During the review, the Mission Director enquired about the current status and pace of pipeline mapping across different divisions. He stressed the importance of fast-tracking the execution of this work, citing its crucial role in improving water supply infrastructure and planning future expansion.
The divisional engineers were directed to expedite pipeline mapping and ensure accuracy and timely completion of data entries. The Mission Director expressed concern over existing backlogs and instructed officers to prioritize their clearance without further delays.
While taking stock of ongoing schemes, the MD emphasized that projects nearing completion — particularly those with 80 to 90 percent of work already done — should be finalized at the earliest. He directed divisional officers to mobilize resources effectively and address any logistical or administrative hurdles that may be slowing progress.
The Mission Director was assured by attending officers that all efforts are being made to meet the set targets. The engineers reaffirmed their commitment to completing the assigned tasks within the prescribed timelines.
Expenditure reconciliation and “Dump Data” were also reviewed during the meeting, with the MD urging for precise documentation and real-time updates on financial utilization. He highlighted the need for transparent monitoring to ensure optimal use of funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
In conclusion, Khurshid Ahmad Shah reiterated that the successful and timely implementation of JJM projects is a top priority. He called upon all divisions to maintain momentum and work in a coordinated manner to achieve the mission’s objective of providing safe and adequate drinking water to every rural household in the region.
