NOV 11: At the CII Health Conclave’s special session on “Empowering Senior Care,” Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the need for intergenerational synergy among Gen X, Y, and Z to achieve optimal outcomes in nation building. He urged society to view senior citizens as equal partners in India’s development journey, blending their wisdom with the creativity and energy of youth.

Dr. Singh highlighted that just as interdisciplinary teamwork fosters innovation, intergenerational collaboration is essential for a resilient and inclusive India. He remarked that seniors with progressive outlooks can easily adapt to modern trends while contributing traditional values and lived experiences — forming a unique balance of heritage and innovation.

Challenging stereotypes about ageing, the Minister observed that technological progress has blurred generational divides. “Those who grew up in the black-and-white era have now mastered social media — we are Gen Z+,” he quipped, urging recognition of lifelong learning and adaptability among older citizens.

Dr. Singh noted India’s growing elderly population and called for strategies to ensure they remain healthy and productive. He cited the government’s tech-driven pension reforms, including biometric and facial authentication for life certification, as part of its broader Ease of Living mission. Over 85,000 pensioners are above 90, with 2,500 over 100, reflecting improved longevity.

He stressed preventive healthcare as a national priority and encouraged public-private partnerships in senior care innovation. Concluding, Dr. Singh said India’s true strength lies in uniting the experience of elders with the dynamism of youth — a fusion that can power a new and stronger India.
