NOV 10: As part of the nationwide celebration marking 150 years of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram”, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) organized a solemn and spirited mass singing event at its premises on 7th November 2025. The programme coincided with the inaugural ceremony led by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, organized by the Ministry of Culture.
The MoPA event began at 10:00 a.m. with the presence of the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, the Secretary, and the Additional Secretary, alongside officers and staff members. The gathering opened with the full rendition of “Vande Mataram,” filling the air with patriotic emotion.
In his welcome address, the Additional Secretary reflected on the spiritual essence of the song—an expression of reverence and gratitude to the Motherland. The Secretary traced its historical journey from Bankimchandra Chatterjee’s 19th-century creation to its role in uniting India during the freedom struggle, emphasizing its continuing relevance as a symbol of national pride and unity.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of State described Vande Mataram as a divine hymn that ignited India’s nationalist spirit and stands as an equal emblem alongside Jana Gana Mana.
Participants later joined the Prime Minister’s live address, where he called Vande Mataram a sacred invocation of India’s soul, urging citizens to embody its message through unity, self-reliance, and collective progress.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to these ideals as part of the year-long commemoration (2025–2026) celebrating Vande Mataram’s enduring legacy.
