DEC 9: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, held an extensive public outreach session at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar, meeting several MLAs and delegations representing diverse sectors and communities. The interactions centred on critical public concerns relating to health, education, road connectivity, drinking water supply and essential services across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, MLAs and stakeholders highlighted pressing developmental challenges and field-level issues affecting their constituencies. Minister Sakeena Itoo gave patient hearing to each delegation, assuring that their genuine concerns will be addressed in a time-bound and transparent manner.
The Minister reaffirmed that the Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is committed to ensuring accessible and responsive administration. She emphasised that strengthening public service delivery remains a top priority, and such interactions play an essential role in bridging gaps between governance systems and citizens’ expectations.
Addressing concerns related to health infrastructure, she assured expedited action on upgrading facilities, filling manpower gaps, improving diagnostic services and ensuring availability of essential medicines. She reiterated that health continues to be one of the Government’s core focus areas, especially in remote and underserved regions.
On education, Sakeena Itoo stressed the importance of quality learning environments, improved school infrastructure and equitable access to opportunities for students. She directed officials to closely review the issues raised by MLAs and ensure timely interventions wherever required.
The delegations also raised matters pertaining to road connectivity, water supply, and essential commodities. The Minister assured that coordination with concerned departments will be strengthened to fast-track repairs, ensure uninterrupted supplies, and fill service gaps at the earliest.
She highlighted that proactive governance, accountability and on-ground delivery are key principles of the present administration. Public grievances, she said, must be addressed with seriousness and sensitivity to build trust and strengthen community-government partnerships.
Sakeena Itoo appreciated the role of MLAs and local representatives in voicing people’s concerns and acting as a vital link between the administration and the public. She encouraged them to continue active engagement and assured full support from her departments.
The Minister concluded by reiterating that the Government remains firmly dedicated to public welfare, inclusive development and responsive governance. She said that collaborative efforts and continuous dialogue with citizens will ensure improved service delivery and better outcomes for people across Jammu and Kashmir.
