APRIL 22: The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a fresh traffic advisory notifying complete suspension of vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) . The decision has been taken due to ongoing restoration work in flood-affected areas of Ramban, which could not be completed today.

Authorities have advised commuters to refrain from planning any travel on the highway until further notice, stating that the road surface is not yet safe for vehicular movement.

In addition, the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244) route remains closed due to recent snowfall. Movement on this route will be permitted only after clearance and approval from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Regarding the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road, only one-way traffic will be allowed from Kargil to Srinagar, subject to favorable weather and road conditions. Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) equipped with anti-skid chains, followed by Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) with only six tyres, will be permitted. These vehicles will be allowed to travel from Minamarg up to 1:30 PM. No movement will be allowed after the cut-off time.

Similarly, movement on the Mughal Road—from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa via Poonch—will also be conditional upon fair weather and road clearance by GREF. Passenger and private LMVs will be permitted in both directions between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Vehicles from Jammu will be allowed to cross Akhnoor by 10:00 AM, Bhambla by 11:00 AM, Rajouri by 1:00 PM, Manjakote by 1:30 PM, Surankote by 2:30 PM, and Behramgala by 3:00 PM.

From the Srinagar side, vehicles must pass TRC Srinagar by 12:30 PM, Nowgam by 1:00 PM, Pampore and adjoining points by 2:00 PM, and Herpora by 3:00 PM. No vehicles will be allowed beyond these timings. Movement on the Thanamandi–DKG–Baffliaz route remains strictly prohibited.
