MAY 01: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, chaired a high-level security meeting to assess the prevailing security situation in the Union Territory. The meeting brought together senior officials from the police and civil administration to deliberate on actionable strategies aimed at neutralizing terror threats and enhancing public safety.
The review meeting was attended by Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary Home, Shri Chandraker Bharti; Additional Director General of Police CID, Shri Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Shri Bhim Sen Tuti; and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma.
During the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Sinha issued firm directives to intensify the crackdown on terrorism and eliminate its support networks. He underscored that the fight against terrorism is not limited to security forces alone but is a collective mission involving every citizen of the Union Territory and the nation.
“It is the collective resolve of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire nation to eradicate the roots of terrorism that stem from across the border. We must remain firm and united in our mission,” said the Lieutenant Governor.
He specifically instructed security forces to take stringent action against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who aid terrorists by offering logistical support, identifying potential targets, and facilitating their movement and escape. The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the entire infrastructure supporting terrorism must be dismantled in every part of Jammu and Kashmir.
Stressing the importance of public safety, LG Sinha stated, “It is our utmost priority to ensure that the common citizens feel secure in their daily lives.”
He also called for further strengthening of the security grid and emphasized the need for improved coordination, synergy, and intelligence sharing among all security agencies to prevent any potential threats proactively.
This high-level interaction reaffirms the administration’s commitment to a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir and its focus on maintaining peace, law and order across the region.
