MAY 06: The District Election Officer (DEO) of Jammu has officially handed over the final electoral rolls of the 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency to representatives of political parties, marking the successful completion of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2025. The revision process commenced on April 8, 2025, with April 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for inclusion in the voter list.
The SSR exercise was preceded by a rationalization of polling stations within the constituency. As a result, five new polling stations were added, raising the total from 145 to 150. This move aims to improve accessibility and ensure smoother conduct of electoral processes.
Throughout the revision, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) played a critical role in verifying and updating voter data. Extensive awareness campaigns were conducted under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. Collaboration with political parties, educational institutions, and civil society organizations ensured widespread outreach to eligible voters.
A notable initiative included the use of a mobile awareness unit named “Democracy on Wheels,” equipped with modern facilities to promote electoral literacy. Additionally, four Special Voter Registration Camps were organized across all polling stations on April 12, 13, 19, and 20. These camps witnessed active public participation, with many citizens turning up to verify and update their electoral details.
The final voter lists are now available for public scrutiny at each polling station, the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant EROs, and on the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K’s official website: https://ceojk.nic.in.
While handing over the rolls, the DEO encouraged all political representatives and electors to verify their names, Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers, and relevant part and serial numbers. Those dissatisfied with any decision taken during the revision process may appeal to the District Magistrate.
The DEO also commended the tireless efforts of BLOs, nodal officers, and field staff, as well as the cooperation of local residents, in making the revision process a transparent and successful democratic exercise. Citizens were urged to remain proactive in the electoral process and contribute to strengthening democracy.
