Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Calls for Mandatory Bunkers Along LoC, Assures Support to Shelling Victims

May 15, 2025 — Minister Javed Ahmed Rana strongly advocated for the mandatory construction of civilian bunkers along the Line of Control (LoC) during his visit to the shelling-affected areas of Mendhar. Expressing deep concern over the recurring cross-border shelling, he emphasized the urgent need for protective infrastructure to ensure the safety of border residents.

During the visit, Minister Rana personally assessed the damage caused by recent shelling incidents and interacted with the affected families. He listened to their grievances and assured them of the government’s full support in terms of both immediate relief and long-term safety measures.

Highlighting the vulnerability of civilian populations living near the LoC, he called for the institutionalization of mandatory bunkers in all high-risk areas. “The safety of our citizens is non-negotiable. Mandatory bunkers are a necessity, not an option,” the minister stated.

He directed the district administration to expedite damage assessments and ensure prompt disbursement of compensation to the affected households. Immediate steps were also ordered to restore essential services and repair damaged infrastructure in the region.

Minister Rana reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening border security and enhancing preparedness for any future contingencies. He further urged coordination between state and central agencies to address the security and welfare concerns of residents living in vulnerable LoC zones.

His visit underscores the administration’s proactive approach in addressing both the humanitarian and strategic dimensions of life along the border.
