MAY 30: Minister Satish Sharma conducted a series of meetings in Srinagar with multiple public delegations, listening to concerns from various sections of society and assuring proactive steps to address them. The interactive sessions served as a platform for citizens to raise pressing local issues, ranging from inadequate transport facilities to the need for improved sports infrastructure across the city.

Delegations included community leaders, youth representatives, civil society members, and transport unions, all of whom presented detailed memoranda outlining their concerns. One of the major topics of discussion was the condition of public transport in certain urban and semi-urban areas. Delegates highlighted irregular services, outdated fleets, and the need for better connectivity between residential areas and commercial hubs. Minister Sharma acknowledged the issue and assured that the transport department would be directed to formulate a plan for service expansion and vehicle modernization.

Another major point raised was the lack of adequate sports infrastructure for the city’s youth. Local sports organizations urged the minister to expedite the development of stadiums, training facilities, and community playgrounds. They emphasized that sports not only promote physical well-being but also help engage the youth constructively. Minister Sharma welcomed the suggestions and reiterated the government’s commitment to youth development, stating that proposals for new facilities would be fast-tracked under relevant schemes.

In addition to transport and sports, other civic issues such as sanitation, street lighting, and drainage systems were also discussed. The minister gave a patient hearing and assured that departmental reviews would be conducted to ensure immediate attention to feasible concerns.

Minister Sharma appreciated the public’s active engagement and stressed the importance of such dialogue in a healthy democracy. “These interactions are vital for responsive governance. We are committed to ensuring that people’s voices are heard and acted upon,” he said.

He also announced that regular grievance redressal camps will be organized at the local level to ensure that citizens can directly communicate their problems to government officials without bureaucratic delays.

The meetings concluded with a renewed sense of trust and assurance, as citizens felt heard and hopeful for timely action. Minister Sharma’s outreach in Srinagar underscores the administration’s focus on grassroots governance, transparency, and community-driven development.
