JUNE 20: In a joint effort to accelerate development and improve service delivery, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, along with Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, co-chaired a detailed review meeting in Baramulla. The meeting centered on evaluating the ongoing developmental initiatives under the District Capex Budget for the financial year 2024-25, the State Plan, and various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
The primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen mechanisms that enable closer monitoring of public services, enhance transparency and accountability, and ensure swift execution of projects at the grassroots level. During the session, both ministers conducted a thorough department-wise review and requested detailed updates on individual schemes and infrastructure works from the concerned Heads of Departments.
Minister Javed Ahmed Rana issued clear directives to all departmental heads to regularly visit project sites in order to monitor progress firsthand. He emphasized that consistent field inspections are critical to ensuring timely completion, high-quality execution, and the accountability of all ongoing works. He urged that the officials maintain a strong commitment to timelines and the highest standards of implementation while delivering services to the public.
Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, while echoing similar sentiments on project delivery, turned the spotlight on the pressing social issue of drug abuse. He called upon the health sector and law enforcement agencies to adopt a more compassionate and rehabilitative approach toward individuals affected by substance abuse. He stressed the importance of counseling, treatment, and long-term support to help such individuals reintegrate into society with dignity and stability.
Both ministers acknowledged the role of collective administrative will and interdepartmental coordination in achieving the intended outcomes of the developmental agenda. They reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development and the upliftment of rural and tribal communities in the region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for accountability at every level of governance, stronger community outreach, and seamless execution of welfare schemes, ensuring tangible results that directly benefit the people of Baramulla.
