JULY 23: The Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet has successfully concluded a four-day port call to Singapore, marking another significant step in strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and regional partners. The visit, which took place from 16 to 19 July 2025, was part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing operational deployment to South East Asia.
The fleet comprised four frontline ships—INS Delhi, INS Shakti, INS Satpura, and INS Kiltan—all operating under the command of Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF). During the visit, Rear Admiral Menon held formal meetings with the High Commissioner of India to Singapore and the Fleet Commander of the RSN, exploring new avenues for joint exercises, information sharing, and enhanced maritime security collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
In addition to official interactions, FOCEF engaged with the academic community in Singapore to share the Indian Navy’s perspectives on maritime security, emerging regional dynamics, and its role in ensuring stability in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
A key highlight of the visit was a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Kranji War Memorial, where Commanding Officers of the Eastern Fleet ships paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during World War II.
The port call also featured a range of professional and cultural engagements aimed at fostering camaraderie between the two navies. These included cross-deck visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs), and friendly sports activities, all designed to enhance interoperability and mutual understanding.
To commemorate the occasion, INS Shakti hosted a grand deck reception, attended by senior RSN officials, dignitaries from Singapore’s diplomatic and academic circles, and members of the Indian diaspora. The event underscored the Indian Navy’s commitment to people-to-people ties and maritime diplomacy.
The successful Singapore port call reflects the Indian Navy’s steadfast commitment to ensuring regional stability and maritime cooperation, aligned with India’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
With this deployment, the Indian Navy continues to reinforce its role as a key stakeholder in the Indo-Pacific, promoting peace, stability, and collaborative partnerships with friendly nations.
