AUG 14: Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh interacted with 30 meritorious higher secondary students from tribal communities of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at South Block, New Delhi, on August 14, 2025. The visit formed part of Aarohan: Dweep to Delhi, a seven-day National Integration Tour organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC), during which the students will also attend the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.

Welcoming the students, Shri Rajnath Singh emphasised the importance of human values as the foundation for building strong character. He urged them to balance academic achievements with personal integrity, courage, and empathy, stating that these qualities are essential for a successful and meaningful life. The Raksha Mantri encouraged the students to face challenges fearlessly and contribute towards making India a powerful and self-reliant nation in the future.

In a gesture of warmth, Shri Rajnath Singh offered sweets to the students. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a traditional handcrafted souvenir created by local tribal artisans from the Islands. He praised ANC for spearheading this initiative, supported by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, HQ Delhi Area, and the Civil Administration of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The event was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit.

The Aarohan: Dweep to Delhi programme aims to provide young learners from remote island communities with exposure to India’s rich cultural heritage, modern infrastructure, and academic opportunities. The itinerary includes visits to historic landmarks like the Red Fort, India Gate, National War Memorial, and the Taj Mahal, along with academic institutions such as Delhi Technological University and the National Science Centre. The initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to fostering national integration and empowering future leaders from the Islands.
