AUG 24: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir today interacted with members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Srinagar and commended their significant role in strengthening trade, commerce, and industry in the Union Territory.
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor underlined that India, one of the world’s oldest civilizations, has always upheld values of compassion, brotherhood, and cultural heritage. These principles, he said, have not only shaped the nation’s identity but also made its economy resilient and capable of achieving sustained progress. “Our cultural roots and traditional values continue to guide us in building a great and powerful nation,” he remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor lauded the ICC for choosing Srinagar as the venue for its meeting, emphasizing that the gathering offers an important platform for business networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. He noted that such events will greatly benefit local entrepreneurs and industries, encouraging them to expand their aspirations and reach new heights.
Highlighting the symbolic importance of the ICC’s Srinagar meeting, the LG said it sends a clear message that no force of terror or violence can suppress India’s unity, progress, and economic ambitions. “This event is not just about business—it is a strong statement against those who seek to harm the integrity of our nation,” he asserted.
He further observed that the presence of ICC in Srinagar reflects growing confidence in Jammu and Kashmir’s business environment. He encouraged the industry leaders to leverage the opportunities in the UT across diverse sectors including tourism, horticulture, handicrafts, information technology, and renewable energy.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed optimism that the partnership between national industry bodies like ICC and local stakeholders will accelerate investment, innovation, and job creation in the region. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing all necessary support for industrial growth, economic prosperity, and peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
