AUG 25: The District Administration Kathua has issued a traffic diversion advisory after flooding was reported in the Kalibari area of the district. Commuters have been urged to avoid the affected stretch and follow the alternative route suggested by the administration to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
The advisory comes in the wake of heavy rainfall and subsequent waterlogging that disrupted vehicular movement in parts of Kathua district. Local authorities, in coordination with police and disaster management teams, are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents.
Traffic has been rerouted through a designated detour as indicated on the official map, ensuring minimum inconvenience to commuters. The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate and strictly adhere to the diversion plan until the situation improves.
“Safety of the public remains our top priority. We request people to avoid the Kalibari area until further notice and make use of the alternate route suggested,” the administration stated. Efforts are underway to clear the flooded section and restore normal traffic movement at the earliest.
Emergency services remain on standby, and the district administration has assured that any updates regarding road conditions will be shared promptly through official channels and media platforms. Citizens have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel in waterlogged areas, and follow updates from official handles including @diprjk, @infjammu, @ddnews_jammu, @radionews_jammu, @PIBSrinagar, @CBCJammuKashmir, @CBCKathua, @airkathua, and @districtadmkat1.
The situation is being continuously assessed, and further directions will be issued based on the rainfall activity and water level conditions in the coming hours.
